CCF’s First Out-of-City Outreach: A Day of Hope and Healing at DHQ Hospital, Attock
On Feburary 15th, 2025, Cleft Care Foundation (CCF) marked a significant milestone in its mission to bring cleft care to underserved communities with its first-ever out-of-city outreach camp, hosted at District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, Attock. This outreach event was not just a medical camp—it was a symbol of hope, inclusion, and a renewed commitment to reach cleft patients who often remain unseen and untreated due to geographic or financial barriers.
Reaching the Unreached
This camp was a part of CCF’s ongoing effort to expand its services beyond urban centers, ensuring that children and families in rural and remote areas have access to specialized cleft care. The selection of DHQ Hospital, Attock, as the venue was strategic—it allowed the foundation to connect with a wide demographic of patients from surrounding towns and villages who otherwise struggle to reach major hospitals for consultations.
A Collaborative, Multidisciplinary Effort
True to CCF’s philosophy of comprehensive, team-based care, the camp brought together a panel of experts from multiple disciplines relevant to cleft lip and palate management. Specialists provided one-on-one consultations, assessed patient needs, and developed individualized treatment plans, all within a single, streamlined setup.
The team included:
- Plastic Surgeons – offering surgical evaluations and planning cleft repair timelines.
- Maxillofacial Surgeons – addressing facial bone and jaw alignment issues.
- Orthodontists and General Dentists – examining dental health, malocclusion, and planning braces or interventions.
- ENT Specialists and Audiologists – screening for hearing issues and nasal/ear complications associated with cleft conditions.
- Speech Therapists – conducting verbal assessments and recommending therapy to improve speech development.
- Psychiatrists and Psychologists – providing emotional and psychological support for patients and families.
- Prosthodontists – suggesting feeding appliances and oral prosthetics for pre-surgical management.
This team worked in harmony to provide over 50 patients with in-depth assessments, compassionate care, and hope for a brighter, healthier future.
Stories That Matter
The camp witnessed heartwarming moments—a mother walking miles with her infant for a chance at a better life, a teenager who found out she could receive speech therapy to regain confidence, and many families expressing gratitude that specialized care had finally come to their doorstep.
For many attendees, it was the first time receiving a proper diagnosis and a clear treatment plan. These stories reflect the real impact of outreach—reaching patients not just geographically, but emotionally and socially.
Looking Ahead
This outreach camp is only the beginning. CCF aims to continue expanding its reach, conducting similar camps across other underserved districts in Pakistan. By forging strong partnerships with local hospitals and medical professionals, and by staying committed to a patient-centered model, CCF envisions a future where no child with a cleft condition is left behind due to lack of access.
A Heartfelt Thank You
CCF extends its sincere thanks to the administration of DHQ Hospital, Attock, all attending specialists, volunteers, and most importantly—the brave patients and families who trusted us with their care.
Stay connected with CCF as we continue our journey of spreading smiles, restoring hope, and building a future where cleft care is a right, not a privilege.
